marketing advice needed
Author Last Post
I worked in the marketing department of Elanco which was recently spun off from Eli Lilly from 1973 to 2003 in various capacities. It is interesting that you have public relations in the mix. Many companies keep these functions separate for an assortment of reasons.
I am planning on attending Wed meeting unless a medical appointment beats me up too much. Have some of the longtime members point me out if you don’t know me and we can discuss.

Hi Paul,

Once again, another insightful post. I have heard similar quotes before and I think this applies to CIWW having free classes and workshops.

Anyway, the marketing advice I was seeking was to help CIWW improve its image and getting more PR out in the community. This is something that needs to be improved on and I was hoping that one of our members did marketing for a day job.

I have gone to the library and checked out several marketing books in the past. My next stop may be your suggestion to find someone at the SBA to give CIWW some help.

Thanks again for your suggestions,
Craig

Good advice is worth every penny you pay for it. Free advice is worth the same.

With that in mind, talk to the US Small Business Administration. They have an office on North Keystone in Indianapolis.

They can help you find a business mentor, or lead you to lots of information.

From personal experience I can tell you that some of their information is useful, but not all of it. Trying to separate out the gems can be a job in itself.

Get a couple books on marketing from your nearest library. They may not teach you much, but you might pick up some of the lingo used in that trade. You might even find names of companies you would like to consult.

The irony of your question is that a good marketing advisor/company should be doing such a good job of marketing themselves that you would already know who they were. If they can’t market themselves, how can they market your products? So, if you have to ask about marketing, then there must not be any good marketing firms around! It is a paradox. Good luck in your search.

Hi All,

Need some help with marketing advice/questions. If this is related to your day job and the sort of thing you did before you retired and would really appreciate some help.

Thanks in advance,
Craig
