For our monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 20th**, CIWW will be hosting its first ever Hidden Compartment Challenge. This is a contest that asks members to create an object which contains a hidden compartment.  The goal is to create a simple box, a music box, a desk or desk drawer, a wall mirror, a vase, table, picture frame, book, cross, or whatever you can think of to conceal something.

For more details about this challenge, including judging criteria, check out the Event Calendar listing using the button below:

**Starting this month, we will be opening our doors one hour early to give members a bit of time for socializing before the actual meeting begins. Bring a friend, and appetite, and join us at 6:00 PM for this extra time with fellow woodworkers.

February 2024
Toys of the
Month

Our Toys for the Month of February are the Road Grader and the Bandsaw Box.

Originally drawn up by John Kneebone, The Road Grader is a popular toy in our Car category. The kit includes six wheels, axles, a driver and a smoke stack, along with a template for the main body of the grader.  Kits will be available for this build.

Our Alternative Toy of the Month is the Bandsaw Box which opens up the creative possibilities for you to build a unique box of your own design.  Play with contrasting woods and get creative in how you shape the body and drawers of this special treasure box.

As usual, build 13, keep one, and return the others in a box marked Category 5 for the Road Grader and
Category 8 for the Bandsaw Box.

Pick up your templates from Vince Failla at the monthly meeting in the Carpenters Union 301 Hall. Or contact Vince for more information at 317-408-7511
