September 2023
Toys of the
Month

Our main Toy for the Month of September is the Chugging Choo Choo.  This is a great toy for little hands!

The Alternative Toy of the Month is the Pencil Box!  This toy is a great project for older children, offering them a great place to store pencils, crayons or other special treasures.

The Chugging Choo Choo has a kit that includes wheels, axles, a smokestack and half-round balls.   The Pencil Box does not require a kit. As usual, build 13, keep one, and return the others in a box marked for Category 4 for the Choo Choo and Category 3 for the Pencil Box.

Pick up your kits from Vince Failla at the monthly meeting in the Carpenters Union 301 Hall. Or contact Vince for more information at 317-408-7511

August 2023
Toys of the
Month

Our Toys for the Month of August include the return of the popular Baby Buggy!  This is a great toy for little hands!

The Alternative Toy of the Month is the Snake Pencil Holder!  This slithery toy allows members to get creative in their design of this serpent, including how many and the size of the holes.

The Baby Buggy has a kit that includes wheels, dowels, and the person.  The Snake Pencil Holder does not require a kit. As usual, build 13, keep one, and return the others in a box marked for Category 4 (both projects).

Pick up your kits from Vince Failla at the monthly meeting in the Carpenters Union 301 Hall. Or contact Vince for more information at 317-408-7511

July 2023
Toys of the
Month

Our Toys for the Month of July are a trio of simple to make Whistles.  The first, and most challenging, is the Train Whistle.  Built with four sound chambers, this will require a bit of tuning of the sound to make it realistic.

Alternative # 1 is a Square Whistle, which only has one sound chamber and should not take long at all to build. Alternative # 2 is the Dowel Whistle, and is just as simple as the square version.

The only items needed in the kits for these whistles are dowels.  As usual, build 13, keep one, and return the others in a box marked for Category 2 (both projects).

Pick up your kits from Vince Failla at the monthly meeting in the Carpenters Union 301 Hall. Or contact Vince for more information at 317-408-7511

A few words from our President:

Allow me to welcome you to our website!  We hope you are able to find out about our Club and see opportunities that appeal to you personally.  Our primary purpose, beyond working wood, is to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in our community.  As you browse our website, I feel confident you'll get a better feel for all we're doing to this end.

Of course, the most recent issue we face is the need to adapt to the health crisis that everyone is facing now.  We're grateful for the patience of our members and visitors during this time when all of our routines have been turned upside down.  Unfortunately, uncertainty seems to be the 'new normal' we will all be facing in the coming weeks and months.

The Board is discussing how we can weather these changes and keep our members engaged.  We'll do our best to listen to you as we reconsider our current events schedule and the impact on long term plans as well. We hope to send out emails as decisions are made.  And we will use this website more to help keep you informed in the future.  If you'd like to be in the loop, become a member and we'll include you in all of those mailings.

Speaking of the website, you will notice that we are going to be working over the next couple weeks to give it a new, updated look and hopefully make it easier to navigate.  Thanks for your patience during this process.

Please feel free to reach out to myself or any of the Board members if we can help any of our members during this time...we all love to work wood, but we're also about MAKING A DIFFERENCE wherever we can!
