Starting in May, Interstate 65 through the downtown Indianapolis area will be a major construction zone as new bridges and traffic lanes for the I-70 junction are being built.  Traffic in both the northbound and southbound lanes will be restricted and delays will definitely be part of that route for roughly 18 months.  For more information on the project, check out the INDOT website with full details:  Construction Details

Our suggestion is to avoid I-65 if at all possible.  The alternative is to use I-465 around the southeast side of Indy and then take I-65 North Exit 53A and go to the Keystone Ave. exit.
